Start the session fast, with the release caveats still visible.
Choose the current Windows, macOS, or Linux build. The complete NAM Rack engine is already included; your third-party NAM captures and cabinet IRs stay separate and keep their own licenses.
Choose your platform
Use the current stable redirect for your operating system and keep the platform-specific trust notes visible.
Windows
Unsigned installer may show a SmartScreen warning on first run.
- Best path for everyday desktop installs.
- The button points to the stable redirect endpoint for the current Windows build.
macOS
- Drag OpenStudio to Applications.
- If macOS blocks launch, right-click OpenStudio and choose Open.
- If needed, allow it in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
Linux
- Self-contained AppImage - no installation required.
- Make the file executable: chmod +x OpenStudio-*.AppImage, then run it.
- Tested on Ubuntu 22.04+. Other distros may work with equivalent glibc.
System requirements
- 64-bit Windows 10 or later, macOS 12 Monterey or later, or Ubuntu 22.04+ (other distros with equivalent glibc may work).
- A modern multi-core CPU and at least 8 GB RAM for comfortable multitrack work.
- Audio interface or built-in device with current drivers for low-latency recording.
- Extra storage space for sessions, third-party NAM captures and IRs, and any optional AI tools you install later.
Release and install notes
- Stable download redirects live at /download/windows/latest and /download/macos/latest.
- Stable Linux download redirects at /download/linux/latest - the AppImage runs on Ubuntu 22.04+ without package installation.
- The base app stays lean by keeping optional AI runtime components outside the default installer.
- The NAM Rack engine ships in the base app. Local .nam captures and cabinet IRs need no add-on runtime; connected TONE3000 delivery is optional and requires a TONE3000 account.
- Third-party NAM captures and IRs are distributed separately and remain subject to their creators' licenses.
- Distribution is currently optimized for a zero-cost release path, so unsigned installs may require manual trust steps.
- OpenStudio checks release metadata from openstudio.org.in to discover newer builds.
- That metadata-driven flow helps point users to updates without implying fully signed, one-click background patching on every platform.
- macOS especially should be presented honestly: it is an unsigned DMG release with manual Gatekeeper override guidance.
- Linux AppImage is unsigned - most distros run it without additional trust steps.
- Unsigned builds can trigger SmartScreen on Windows or Gatekeeper on macOS during first launch.
- Optional AI tooling runs through a separate in-app setup that prepares a managed local runtime - no manual Python environment required.
- BS Roformer and ACE-Step setup do not install Stable Audio 3; Stable Audio 3 requires a separate gated snapshot import and runtime setup.
- Once the selected AI setup is complete, model assets can run locally and offline as long as the required files are present.
